Whilst this conflict was certainly not the last war to see mounted troops in action, it is popularly believed to be so and public interest in re-enactment was at an all time high. The fascinating mixture of weaponry and tactics employed by the British cavalry saw mounted charges with essentially medieval weapons [sword and lance] contrasted with dismounted tactical action with state of the art magazine rifles. This in turn makes for a fascinating basis for both arena displays and interactive talks with the public.
